Two houses burgled at Quepem

 Some unknown person effected entry into a house located at Karadi-Paroda in Quepem and decamped with items worth ` 1 lakh.

According to Quepem police, Ms Salvia Fernandes of Benaulim, has lodged the complaint alleging that between October 31 and November 5 at Karadi-Paroda, Quepem, unknown culprits effected entry into her daughter’s Ms Lourecina Fernandes’ house, by breaking the main door locks and committed theft of TV, folding beds, toys, clothes, crockery sets, cargo bags, and other items, totally worth around ` 1 lakh.

Police said that the culprits also committed theft in a neigbouring house. As per the complaint, the unknown persons also effected entry into the neighboring house of Mr Xavier Dias, by cutting the window grills and committed theft of DVD, show pieces, blankets, and other items, all worth around ` 15,000. Quepem police said that offence under section 454, 457, 380 of IPC has been registered. ASI, Mr M B Birodkar is investigating.

Meanwhile, Mr Saiprasad Manam, residing near Tilak Maidan, Kharewada, has lodged a complained that on November 5, near a bar in Shantinagar Vasco, the alleged accused Gauv and Sinha, with their common intention, assaulted Mr R Kandavat, the complainant’s brother-in-law, thereby causing fracture injuries to his right hand. Offence under section 325/12 u/s 34 IPC has been registered.

Meanwhile, two youth, Raju Kamli of Gokak and Rehan Shaik of Davangiri, arrested by Maina-Curtorim police for snatching gold ornaments of a woman from Nessai, were remanded to police custody.

Police said that their statements have been recorded and further investigation is in progress. Both came on a motorcycle and robbed the gold items, worth around ` 1.10 lakh.

The Maina-Curtorim police meanwhile said that investigation into the offence registered against two persons from Raia area, for allegedly obstructing government servants while they were discharging their lawful duty is in progress. Police said that offence has been registered against Xavier Fernandes and Minguel Fernandes.

The assistant sub-inspector of Maina-Curtorim, Mr Deu Mangaunker, who is investigating the case said that offence under section 353, has been registered in the case. He said that so far, no one has been arrested. The sarpanch of Raia, Mr Rumaldo Gonsalves had lodged the complaint in this regard. [NT]
