Unlike last Friday, no rush witnessed at Mapusa’s weekly market

Mapusa: As opposed to what had occurred last Friday, where the police had to clear out vendors, customers at the Mapusa weekly market due to the lack of social distancing norms; there was no rush at the market this Friday.

Given what had happened last week and the fact that hundreds of people from Mapusa and neighbouring villages visit the market on Friday, the municipal authorities took strict action and stopped all the vendors before the people could arrive for shopping on this Friday.

It may be recalled that last Friday, the vendors had occupied the space on the road near the Mapusa urban bank as the market premises were closed. This had had also led to a traffic congestion in the area.

However, they were denied permission to sit there this time. [H]
