US national loses cash, goods worth Rs 6 lakh

Failure to collect one of his bags from a taxi proved costly for a US national of Indian origin, when he lost tech gadgets and currency valued at a combined Rs 6.47 lakh.
According to Mapusa police, Harshad Patel had hired a black-and-yellow taxi at Panjim and proceeded to Mapusa. After dropping the tourist at Mapusa, the taxi driver left for Panjim.
The tourist, however, forgot to collect from the taxi one of his bags containing an Apple laptop, an Iphone, an Ipad, a green card, 5000 American dollars and Rs 47,000 in cash, all valued at Rs 6.47 lakh.
Since the tourist did not note down the number of the taxi, it was not possible for him to trace the vehicle or its owner. He has filed a complaint with Mapusa police and PSI Rama Redkar is investigating the case. [H]
