V M Salgaoncar pays stamp duty for lease renewal
Mining major V M Salgaoncar Thursday paid up stamp duty of Rs 9.74 crore towards renewal of its two mining leases, bolstering the total revenue collected from stamp duty to touch Rs 148.74 cr.
Salgaoncar is amongst three firms, which had failed to pay the stamp duty within the set extended deadline of March 7.
The govt had projected total revenue of Rs 294 crore, from renewal of 16 mining leases before the end of the financial year. Now only two firms Sesa Goa ( Rs 20 cr, Rs 53.87 cr, Rs 46.73 cr), and Madachem Bat Mines Pvt Ltd (Rs 50 lakh) are yet to pay the stamp duty. [H]
