Vasco victim’s mother gets childcare leave

The management of the Vasco school has granted a two-year childcare leave to the mother of the schoolgirl who was sexually assaulted in the school, to enable her to look after her daughter.

The mother, who is employed in a hospital run by the same management, had applied for leave on February 6 and the secretary of the management on Thursday granted a two-year childcare leave as a special case.
“My wife had met the management and informed them of the difficulties she has been facing to look after her child, who is still traumatised following the sexual assault,” the girl’s father told Herald.

“Our daughter is still under shock and is reluctant to go anywhere, even to the toilet and bathroom, without her mother. It is because of this that my wife had requested the management to grant her leave to look after our daughter. The Goa State Commission for Protection of Child Rights had also intervened in this matter,” he added.[H]
