Velim MLA says will try to enhance TAG annual grant
Velim MLA Benjamin D’Silva on Monday has promised to impress upon the government to enhance the annual grant to the Tiatr Academy of Goa to Rs one crore.
He was addressing the Award Presentation function of the 3rd Children’s Tiatr Festival organised by the Tiatr Academy of Goa at the Gomat Vidya Niketan here this evening.
“We will all support the TAG. Our government has supported TAG and will try to enhance the annual grant from Rs 60 lakh to Rs one crore”, Benjamin said, while complimenting TAG for doing yeoman service for tiatr and its upliftment.
Expressing satisfaction over the participation of many children in the tiatr festival, the Velim MLA underlined the need to give right direction and encouragement for the children to groom them as tiatrists of the future.
In his brief address, President of Tiatr Academy of Goa, Prince Jacob said that TAG has put forth a request to the government for land to build a building of its own. “We will official place the demand with the government. I will require your support to make the government agree to our demand”, Jacob told the Velim MLA.
He advised budding tiatrists to show interest in tiatr saying that one can earn a descent monthly salary ranging between Rs 20,000-25,000.
Jacob has invited the children who participated in the tiatr festival for the Tiatr Dis on April 17 to present them before the people of Goa as the future tiatrists. [H]
