Verna road accident kills one, injures two


Two people were injured and one died in a car accident at Upasnagar at Verna on Wednesday night. Verna police said, "The deceased, Akshay Ganpat Kanade, was driving very fast and lost control of the car. The vehicle banged the divider, flipped over to the other side of the highway and fell in the bushes."
Late Wednesday night, 22-year-old Kanade, a resident of Aman Colony, near MES College, along with two of his friends- Ishwar Malwankar, 22, and Anil Reddy, 23, from Mangor- were going towards Verna from Zuarinagar.
When they reached Upasnagar, on the NH 17-B highway, Kanade lost control of the car and hit the divider. The car was at such high speed that it turned turtle, reached the other side of the road and went 40 m off the highway into the bushes. All three were taken to the Goa Medical College and Hospital in Bambolim.
Kanade, who was working on a ship had come to Goa a month and a half ago on holiday. He was declared brought dead by doctors. Malwankar is undergoing treatment and Reddy has been discharged.
