Vintage cars to be special attraction at expo

A special attraction at Auto Herald will be the display of vintage cars by Pradeep Naik.
On display at the expo will be a convertible Chevrolet, convertible Morris 8, Morris 8 Saloon, baby Austin, a very rare 4-door Morris Minor Pickup and the very special Volkswagen Beetle 4-door limousine.
“The Volkswagen Beetle 4-door limousine is so special because it is a tribute to the legend, Mario Miranda. His cartoons have been replicated on the car and I am very grateful to Gerard da Cunha for letting me,” said Pradeep Naik, owner of Ashvek Vintage World, Nuvem.
“I think Auto Herald will be the ideal platform for me to showcase this car apart from letting the people of Goa, get a glimpse of my collection,” said Naik.
A lot of people have a lot of cars, but they keep it behind locked doors. I want to share my treasure with Goans and I hope the people visiting the Auto Herald expo will appreciate my effort, he added.
Naik also has a permanent vintage car museum located at Nuvem. He hopes that it will serve as an education for generations to come. “There is an urgent need to preserve motoring treasures for posterity”, he says.
Vintage car connoisseurs can have a field day checking out these beautiful models. A white Morris 8, an immaculate model from 1940, Peugeot 301, 1931 model, Morris Minor Pickup, Morris 8 black 1939, Vidall Tempo, a two engine car used by the German army, DKW 1959, Black Ford Prefect and Mercedes Benz 170 model 1939 are some of the models on display.
The cars are also available for rent for shooting advertisements, movies or even weddings for that matter. Recently eight cars from this collection were used for the film ‘Khelenge Hum Jee Jaan Se’.
Naik also takes up restoration and preservation of vintage cars. Besides buying unusable cars, sometimes in a scarp condition and restoring them, he also advises and helps restore cars belonging to others. [H]
