Vishwajit: Industrial investment has fallen
Coming down heavily on the one-year-old BJP coalition government, the Congress party Saturday said the industrial investment in the State had collapsed.
“There is no employment generation taking place. Not a single investor in the last one year has put his money here. The industrial sector is suffering,” Former Health Minister Vishwajit Rane told a press conference Saturday.
He said the figures tabled in the Assembly are of minimal investments made by small industries, and questioned whether industries were actually employing locals which the government claimed will be encouraged.
Congress Legislative Party spokesman Aleixo Reginaldo Lourenco, who was also present during the press conference, objected to government’s interference in the working of certain departments.
“He has transferred a total of 940 civil servants of which more than 600 are transferred beyond 20 kms from their homes. Then there is interference in the working of passport office wherein demands are made to change the officer. This is vindictiveness,” he alleged as GPCC Chief Subhash Shirodkar flashed a list of transferred officials to the media.
While admitting his party indeed made mistakes during their rule, Lourenco also said that mistakes should not be continued by the BJP-led coalition. [H]
