Weapon used in Khan murder recovered: police
Over a week after businessman Hasan Khan’s brutal murder at Bambolim and subsequent arrests of seven persons, the police today claimed to have recovered weapons used to kill him.
SDPO Umesh Gaonkar revealed that one big knife and two small knives were found from Calangute. The victim’s gold chain was also recovered from one of the accused’s place at Belgaum.
“The accused persons during interrogation disclosed where they had concealed the knives after murdering Khan,” he told Herald refusing to divulge details claiming the case is still under investigation.
The police, however, could not recover the money paid as ‘supari’ because, Gaonkar said, the men bought several valuables from the money. “We are accounting for that,” he said.
The Panjim and Agassaim police got a major breakthrough in the cold-blooded murder of Taleigao-based real estate developer and garage owner last week with the arrests of seven persons.
The murder was plotted by suspended draftsman of Mines Department Robert Gonsalves for Rs 7 lakh ‘supari’. His crime partner Raj Patel made arrangement through one Aniket Deepak Yallukar to hire four men from Belgaum for executing the murder.
All including the Belgaum men Maruti Bhui, Arun Patil, Ravi Patil Patil and Shivaji Patil are now in police custody.
However, police are tight lipped on the blood stained clothes of the accused who after committing murder had changed their wear. So also, Rs 35,000 cash which was in a bag in the car if the victim. [H]
