Wilred Leisure march into semis

A second half strike by striker Tony Dias helped hosts Wilred Leisure Sports Club to overcome Goa Velha Sports Club 1-0 and march into the semi-finals of all-Goa Wilred Leisure Super Soccer tournament at DSYA ground, Curtorim, Saturday. There was no score at the lemon break.
After a barren first half, Wilred scored the all-important goal when striker Tony Dais headed home off a well executed cross from Nelson.
Spurred by the success, Wilred Leisure raised the tempo and nearly doubled the lead but Jamseon Noronha’s try missed the mark narrowly.
Goa Velha tried their best to get back into the game but failed to get past the rival defence.
On Friday, a first half strike by Cliff Cardozo helped Santa Cruz Club of Cavelossim to squeeze past Don Bosco Oratory, Fatorda 1-0 and advance into the semi-finals.
The all-important goal came in the 20th minute when Cliff bulged the net off a Raju Cardozo pass.
Stung by the reverse, Don Bosco went all-out but striker Roger Azavedo muffed gilt edged chances.
Crossing over, Don Bosco continued in same vein but poor finishing by Roger let them down badly as he alone muffed three sitters.
Cavelossim had a couple of scoring chances but their forwards muffed them from close range.  [H]
