With traffic plan in place, Panaji all set for Carnival
The Panaji traffic police have changed the traffic plan for the city to avoid any congestion during the Carnival float parade on Saturday. As per the traffic plan, the Carnival floats will gather and line-up from Divja circle to the Ribandar-Merces junction on the Ribandar causeway. The actual float procession will start at 1pm from the Old Secretariat building, Panaji, and will culminate at Kala Academy. Incoming Traffic to Panaji, The incoming traffic to Panaji city will be diverted at Kaju Darbar tri-junction to proceed via old Patto Bridge-Joao Castro Road-Jose Falcao Road -church square and to reach their respective destinations.
Vehicles coming from new Mandovi bridge and from Bambolim side coming to enter Panaji city will not be allowed to enter via Divja circle. They will be diverted to enter via Kaju Darbar tri-junction -old Patto Bridge. Vehicles coming from Old Goa will be diverted at Ribandar Patto 'T' point to proceed via Chimbel-Chichwada junction -Merces circle. Once the float parade begins, no route buses will be allowed to ply in either direction till the float parade is over. [TOI]
