Woman rescued from Vasco hotel, pimp held


A woman who was forced into prostitution was rescued from a hotel in the heart of the town by the sleuths of Crime Branch, Panaji on Friday after a raid. Another woman accused of forcing the victim into prostitution was arrested.
According to available information, the Crime Branch, Panaji cell led by deputy superintendent of police, Mr Nilu Raut Dessai and PI, Ms Sunita Sawant along with Women Police Cell personnel raided a hotel in Vasco at around 7.30 p.m and rescued the 30-year-old woman. The Crime Branch officials have disclosed that the duo had come down to Vasco from Mumbai four days ago and were supposed to return on Saturday.
However, Crime Branch cell upon a tip off from an informant raided the hotel. The Crime Branch is also investigating whether more persons were involved. [NT]
